    MEDICAL CARE

    Medical Care

Cyprus boasts a high level of medical care, comparable to the standards of clinics in Germany, Israel, and the United States. Both public and private clinics provide medical services, and all medical organizations are monitored by the national health service.

    Public Healthcare

Government agencies in Cyprus offer medical care to everyone, regardless of residency status. Even without insurance, individuals can receive medical services. Recent efforts by the authorities have significantly improved patient care efficiency. Modern medical equipment is available in almost all institutions, and there is no shortage of qualified personnel. Quality medical assistance is accessible even in the most remote areas of the country.

    Private Healthcare

The private healthcare sector in Cyprus is under constant regulation by the Ministry of Health. Licenses are issued to small hospitals, major hospitals, independent specialists, diagnostic centers, and pharmacies. The main advantages of private medical care are the absence of long waits and a personalized approach to each patient. Private clinics can also interact directly with insurance companies to cover patient care costs, especially for inpatient services. For outpatient treatments, patients typically pay upfront and are later reimbursed by their insurance fund.

    Health Insurance

Cyprus offers both public and private health insurance programs. Contributions to the state insurance fund are paid by employers, and employees are entitled to free care at all government clinics. EU citizens with health insurance from their home country can also receive free medical assistance. However, non-residents are not eligible for free services and can be treated on a commercial basis or through private insurance policies.

There are two main types of insurance policies in Cyprus: inpatient (stationary) and outpatient (ambulatory) coverage, each with different levels of coverage. Private medical insurance in Cyprus also allows individuals to receive medical care throughout EU countries. It is essential to carefully read and understand the terms of medical expenses when purchasing an insurance policy.

    Medical Cards

Cyprus has introduced special medical cards that allow access to care in public clinics. Different types of cards (such as blue and pink) provide specific services for various patient categories. The government is also planning to introduce compulsory health insurance for all residents of Cyprus.

In summary, Cyprus’s medical care system is comprehensive and accessible, providing high-quality services in both public and private sectors, with a range of insurance options to suit different needs.
